Teaming two famous presidents together in a dialogue about their Presidencies is a major production for the DuPage Lincoln Bicentennial Coalition. Saturday, March 7, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt “get together" for a visit at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn. Will they talk about the Great Wars (Civil and World War I), the Great Depression, or political views? Both men lived during turbulent times in history. This is a discussion no one should miss. A $3.00 admission charge will be collected at the door the afternoon of the program.

Sunday School Benefit’s Future of Grace Lutheran Church

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Grace Lutheran Church, located at 493 Forest and Pennsylvania in Glen Ellyn, the Sunday School Department hosted a Brunch Benefit and Silent Auction on Sunday, February 22. Since the entire church building is undergoing rehabbing and reconstruction, the Sunday School Department needs funds to furnish and decorate rooms they will be using after the project is complete. The students and teachers chose to be the first major event that celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Grace.

Children’s Coordinator, Brenda Ciero, assembled a committee to comb through the Grace congregation for Silent Auction items as well as the Village of Glen Ellyn merchants. Grace members are reknowned for their baking and culinary expertise, so the food for the brunch was donated by these talented people. Construction should be completed by the first part of May and the Sunday School furnishings will be in place soon after.

The congregation plans to participate in the Glen Ellyn 4th of July Parade with a Marching 100 walking float. Other activities include a multi-generational formal tea with entertainment on Saturday, May 4. For information call the Grace church office at 630-469-1555, weekdays, between 9:30 and 3:00 P.M.

Around Town

Ahhh... massage

After receiving my Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce weekly newsletter with a reminder about specials Cheveux Salon & Day Spa is hosting for the month of February, I couldn't resist heading in for a massage. (being a Chamber member has awesome perks) ;) Although they currently have a $39 pedicure, the massage was calling my name. If you haven't had one in a while I HIGHLY recommend visiting Tetyana and treat yourself to an incredible hour of relaxation!
